University/BHF Centre for Cardiovascular Science
The British Heart Foundation/University of Edinburgh Centre for Cardiovascular Science (CVS) is a research centre in the College of Medicine & Veterinary Medicine in the University of Edinburgh located next to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France.
The mission of the CVS is to foster and deliver internationally leading research into the causes, consequences and therapy of cardiovascular diseases.
We support the research strategy of the British Heart Foundation 2015-2020 by aiming to "discover better ways of preventing, diagnosing and treating cardiovascular disease" and to "enhance translation of these research discoveries into better patient care".
Translational research at CVS is supported and enhanced by the BHF Centre for Research Excellence and the BHF Centre for Vascular Regeneration.
The CVS has 49 principal investigators leading research across six themes: Early Life, Metabolism, Renal & Hypertension, Brain & Body, Vascular Injury & Repair, Pharmacology, Toxicology & Therapeutics.
