Dr. Javier Velásquez Valenzuela, Universidad Catolica de Temuco
Javier holds a law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile. He qualified as a lawyer by the Chilean supreme court in 2009. He has a masters degree in criminal law from the University of Talca, Chile and University Pompeu Fabra, Spain and a PhD in Criminology from the University of Glasgow. Javier worked as a prosecution lawyer for the Chilean prosecution service in Santiago; he specialised in the investigation and prosecution of violent and sexual offences. After he finished his PhD, he returned to Chile and is currently a lecturer in Criminal Law at the Universidad Catolica de Temuco. He has also been appointed director of international relations at the same university.
