Our first session of the series was focused on perceptions, assumptions and their impact and effects.

Speakers:

• Dr Gwenetta Curry, Lecturer of Race, Ethnicity & Health at the Usher Institute, on her experience of being an expert in the media as a woman of colour.
• Dr Austin O Carroll, a Dublin-based GP, on his journey to disability awareness, including a discussion of medical versus social models of disability. 

This session was introduced by Professor Sarah Cunningham Burley and chaired by Professor Stewart Mercer.
