This video is part of the Innovating with Open Knowledge series at The University of Edinburgh.
Interview with Fraser Parkinson, Community Manager at Spirit of Leithers Facebook Page, and Norman Rodger at The Centre for Research Collections at the University of Edinburgh
This case study showcases an excellent example of using 'found' images to create a blog, and how to access other resources to engage community interest. It also shows how a member of the public accessed University of Edinburgh expertise to support their work in both preserving cultural heritage, and engage further collaboration from the wider community.
This video (3 of 5) gives students two challenges.
1. The first is to gather additional information for the images on the Centre for Research Collections website by going out to community groups around Edinburgh.
2. The second challenge is to find other images and information from around the world, that are related to the Port of Leith and relevant to this specific collection.
