This video is part of the Innovating with Open Knowledge series at The University of Edinburgh.
This case study features Nicholas Williams at WEA Scotland who works on the project "Legacies of Resistance to the First World War", and Fiona Laing from the National Library of Scotland.
This case study explores the use of open resources to piece together personal histories of conscientious objectors to the First World War. It will be of interest to people who are interested in how to search for and find useful information for social histories, public engagement or citizenship.
This video (1 of 6) gives background and context to the project at WEA and how NLS can help by both giving access to resources and preserving and disseminating newly created resources. The NLS can give access to many resources simply by becoming a member of the library. Many of the research resources published by the University of Edinburgh will contribute to the resources held at NLS.
There is a transcript and Activity Sheet to accompany this video.
