Nearly 50% of people with ALS by some estimates develop cognitive challenges. But these changes may be missed in many people with the disease. Now, University of Edinburgh neuropsychologist Sharon Abrahams PhD hopes to change that by introducing the Edinburgh Cognitive and Behavioral Assessment Screen (ECAS). The test aims to enable clinicians to recognize cognitive challenges in people with ALS earlier in hopes to better manage their disease.
