Online and blended learning courses in law enforcement communities might be less effective and successful when compared with the traditional classroom. Little experience with the delivery of such kind of courses requires an informed teaching practice and methodological learning design. Learning analytics and educational data mining fields can provide teachers with methods and tools to overcome issues related to course design and student learning performance. This study tries to examine how a combination of learning analytics and educational data mining approaches could inform learning design of online courses and support student intervention techniques to achieve expected pedagogical intention and improve learning experiences.
