The following audio recording is delivered by Chris Gaynor, a senior data scientist at Bayer Crop Science. While working at The Roslin Institute in Edinburgh, he developed the AlphaSimR package and specialised in applying genomic selection to plant breeding programs. Here he gives an overview of his 2017 publication that summarises a study on how to introduce genomic selection into a plant breeding programme. This study used simulation to evaluate several scenarios, from simple modifications to conceptual reorganisation of a plant breeding programme. This is an example of the types of simulations AlphaSimR can do!
