AbstractWith its Attribution Generator, Wikimedia Deutschland has built an easy-to-use tool supporting the generation of license notices for all images hosted on Wikimedia Commons. In 2020, we have developed a prototype for its successor - Curated Commons. The platform is intended to adopt the role of a central and neutral intermediary, enabling users to discover and compare suitable images on the various platforms in the easiest possible way. In the recent months, we developed a minimal viable product (MVP), started to review all its elements and test their implementation in practice. The session is intended to be a starting point for gathering feedback as well as further conversation and collaboration with interested individuals and communities.
Session OutcomesThe session will introduce Curated Commons. We will provide insights into our research and lessons learned. We invite participants to reflect on our findings together - this would be a true enrichment for our further work and an important factor for developing a solution everyone can use and adapt to their own contexts.
