This presentation brought our ALG2 Change by Design together one last time, allowing us to show how within the space of 10 weeks we could go from being relative newcomers to Material Studies and Decolonial Thought to pulling together such a brilliant re-thinking and re-envisioning of our engagement with all things Italian. Thank you ALG2s – Annabel Guthe, Freddie Howard, Radha Mistry, Ed Russell and Kitty Sunnucks – for making your presentation available for sharing. Your submission will inspire others in their final ALG work.
Course blurb – Italy by Design looks at the art of cultural transmission through artefactual materiality since Leonardo and the Renaissance. The course offers a unique focus on cultural production and commodification in the modern period, working selectively on the material success of the invention of Italy in the last 500 years, and combining key concepts in Material and Intermedial Studies and Decolonial Thought with innovative practice-led course delivery formats.
