HEATHER HYDE MINOR is a Professor in the Department of Art, Art History, & Design at the University of Notre Dame, specialising in the art of Europe between the 16th and the 18th centuries. In 2015, The Pennsylvania State University Press published her book Piranesi’s Lost Words, having also published her book The Culture of Architecture in Enlightenment Rome in 2010. The latter received the 2010 Helen and Howard R. Marraro Prize in Italian Art History and the Alice Davis Hitchcock Book Award, bestowed by the Society of Architectural Historians. Her research has been supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the National Humanities Center, the Samuel H. Kress Foundation and the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute.
CAROLYN YERKES is an Associate Professor in the Department of Art & Archaeology at Princeton University. Yerkes specializes in the history of architecture in Europe between the fifteenth and the eighteenth centuries, with an emphasis on architectural culture in drawing and print. Yerkes’ first book, Drawing after Architecture: Renaissance Architectural Drawings and Their Reception (Marsilio, 2017), received the James Ackerman Prize in the History of Architecture and was a finalist for the Charles Rufus Morey Book Award of the College Art Association. We were eager to speak to Professors Hyde Minor and Yerkes because of the collaborative nature of Piranesi Unbound.
