This Topic provides the definition of the Fourier transform, for
analysing continuous-time non-periodic signals. The Topic provides the
standard Engineering definition, alongside definitions found in other
disciplines which aim to use a more symmetric form of the transform. The
Topic then moves on to an example of calculating the Fourier transform
of a rectangular pulse, as well as plotting the spectrum. Finally, the
Topic considers a physical interpretation of what the Fourier spectrum
corresponds to.
