Presenter: James Heilman (User:Doc James)
Biography of Presenter: James Heilman is a Wikipedian and
founder of Wiki Project Med Foundation, a charity whose mission is to,
through Wikipedia, make clear, reliable, comprehensive, up-to-date
educational resources and information in the biomedical and related
social sciences freely available to all people in the language of their
choice. He is an Emergency Room Physician in Cranbrook, British
Columbia, and a clinical assistant professor at the University of
British Columbia.
Overview of topic: This presentation will highlight some of
the most interesting projects being carried on by WikiProject Medicine
members including:
- An update of medical stats
- The offline medical app
- The translation task force
- A bunch of collaborations (and a bit on how you can get involved)
- An update on Wiki Project Med Foundation

Wikimania is the annual conference
celebrating Wikipedia and its sister free knowledge projects with
conferences, discussions, meetups, training and a hackathon. Hundreds of
volunteer editors come together to learn about and discuss projects,
approaches and issues.
