The historian
James Hunter has been at the forefront
of debates around the Highlands and Islands of Scotland for over forty years.
Here he offers a searing critique of the normal approach to
"wilderness" management, whilst seeking to overcome the tension
between rewilding and repeopling.
His latest book,
Set Adrift Upon the World: The Sutherland Clearances,
was published by Birlinn Ltd. in 2016.
This talk was hosted by the Cultural and Historical Geography Research Group
in the Old Library, Institute of Geography, Drummond Street, on the 17th May
2017.
