Title: Turbulence, Waves, and Stars
Abstract: While stars are fluid bodies, the flows within them have long been shrouded in mystery. Recent space telescopes have allowed us to peer into stars in a new using the technique of asteroseismology. In this talk, I will describe some recent observations of fluid dynamical phenomena, including waves and turbulence, in stars. I will present a series of experiments and numerical simulations that can help to interpret the observations to make full use of this unique dataset. Combining experiments, theoretical calculations, numerical simulations, and observational data is essential for improving our understanding of the fluid dynamics of stars.
