Anna (Anne) Eleanor Roosevelt chairs The Roosevelt Institute in New York, and recently retired as Chief Executive Officer for Goodwill of Northern New England. Anne's closing address, ‘Nevertheless, She Persisted’, pays tribute to
her grandmother, Eleanor Roosevelt, whose perseverance ensured the
realization of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

On 7 and 8 September 2018, the Edinburgh Global Justice Academy hosted the annual AHRI conference in Edinburgh, with additional, complementary events taking place on 6 September.
The Association of Human Rights Institutes (AHRI), is a network of 62 member institutions that carries out research and educational activities in the field of human rights. The member institutions are from 33 different countries. AHRI’s objective is to bring together human rights researchers from across the disciplines, to facilitate the exchange of ideas and collaboration, and to promote research, education and discussion in the field of human rights. AHRI is supportive of PhD researchers and the facilitation of exchange between the different member institutions.
The conference programme includes over 100 presentations, a New Titles in the AHRI network session, a number of social events, two plenary panels and a closing address by Anne Roosevelt.
