Artificial Intelligence provides many opportunities to improve modern society, and it has enjoyed significant investment globally. Indeed, discovering patterns and structures in data in an automated manner is a core component of data science.
The potential for highly positive impacts is coupled with significant challenges, however, such as when Artificial Intelligence systems should be deployed and whether they should be responsible for the decisions they take.
In this talk, Vaishak Belle reports on recent progress on these themes, touching on bias, fairness, and moral responsibility.
