Francis Daunt: Drivers of Change in Foraging Ecology and Population Dynamics in Seabirds

natural world is inherently complex and ecologists often face
uncertainty in data and models which makes inference and decision making
more challenging. The need to make decisions about the management of
ecological systems in a way that is defensible and precautionary
provides a strong motivation for quantifying uncertainty. The purpose of
this event is to bring together statisticians and researchers to
understand the role of uncertainty in seabird research and to introduce
methods for quantifying and accounting for uncertainty in movement
modelling. The day will include presentations with both statistical and
application-based focuses which will introduce the data-driven
challenges faced by researchers and practitioners in seabird movement
ecology and encourage discussion around areas of common interest for
potential joint projects and grant proposals.
