This MESH video shows how new tools improve our understanding of the processse of historical change in the city. The tools include multiple (2, 4 or 6) synchronised screens of Edinburgh maps at different points in time between 1765 and the present; and a 'slider' in which the same area of the city can be viewed to reveal change in the streets and buildings.
MESH - Mapping Edinburgh's Social History - is a project based on a significantly enhanced OpenStreetMap and the underlying geo-referenced map collection of the National Library of Scotland. It is a project based in the University of Edinburgh and funded by the AHRC.
